Modified Index of Well-Being
Description: A measure of sexual adjustment .
Format: 10 semantic statements asking respondents to rate how they feel about their life on differential items (e.g., boring/interesting, full/empty). In order to measure sexual adjustment, the index was modified so that the 10 statements reflected a sexual sense of well-being (e.g., enjoyable/miserable, discouraging/hopeful) rather than general well-being.
Scoring: Respondents rate each statement on a 7-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (lowest level on variable measured) to 7 (highest level on variable measured).
Psychometrics: Not Available; In the general population, cronbach’s alpha was 0.94, showing a high level of internal consistency.
QoL Concept: The questionnaire measures sexual adjustment, which corresponds to Box E (life satisfaction/subjective well-being, self-efficacy) of Dijker’s Model.
