CALL FOR ABSTRACTS FOR Conference of the 10th Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the World Federation of NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR)


The 10th Conference of the Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the WFNR will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Maastritcht, Netherlands on 8th and 9th July 2013. It is preceding the INS Mid-Year Meeting in Amsterdam. The AGM of the NeuroPsychological Rehabilitation SIG of the WFNR will also be held during the Conference.

The scientific committee is calling for abstract submissions for this conference. This is a multidisciplinary conference incorporating all rehabilitation disciplines including Neuropsychology, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Medicine and Nursing. The primary focus of the conference is rehabilitation of neuropsychological consequences of acquired brain impairment.

Submissions in a wide range of topics are sought, including:  
  • empirical studies evaluating treatment programs (group studies, single-subject designs/case descriptions)
  • technological applications and advances
  • theoretical models
  • interdisciplinary approaches
  • pharmacological interventions
  • development of assessment instruments
  • family and carer issues
  • service development and clinical initiatives
  • cultural issues
  • social policy topic reviews
All papers will be independently reviewed by the scientific committee prior to acceptance. Conference presentations will be either in the form of a platform presentation (10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions), a Datablitz (5 minute presentation with a poster) or a poster only. Prospective presenters are invited to indicate their preferred presentation format, although the final decision will be made by the scientific committee. Successful abstracts will be published in the society’s journal Brain Impairment.

Submissions must be formatted according to the following guidelines:

  Authors: sentence case - surname, first name, superscript for affiliations

o   Affiliations: sentence case - department, institution, city, country

o   Abstract: structured abstract with the following headings in sentence case and bold: Background and aims, Method, Results, Conclusions

o   All abbreviations should be written in full the first time;

o   Abstracts should be structured in a logical and coherent manner;

o   Abstracts reporting empirical research should include Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion

o   Correspondence: Corresponding author and email address

o   Preference for method of presentation:  (Platform, Datablitz or Poster)
