Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ)

Description: A quality of life (QoL) questionnaire for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases [1].

Format: 32 questions grouped into four dimensions: bowel, systemic, social, and emotional.

Scoring: Scores range from 1 (poorest QoL) to 7 (best QoL). Higher scores indicate better QoL.

Administration and Burden: Interviewer-administered; Self-administered version also available.

Psychometrics for SCI: Good internal consistency, with a Cronbach α of 0.85 for the bowel-related quality of life items.

Languages: English, and several other languages.

QoL Concept: This is a Health-Related QoL measure of Subjective Well-Being, which corresponds to Boxes C (achievements) and E  (subjective evaluations and reactions) of Dijker’s Model.
