Life Regard Index

Description: A measure of positive life regard.

Format: 28 items divided into 2 subscales: Framework (FR), which measures the ability of the individual to see his/her life within some perspective or context, and to have derived a set of life-goals, a purpose in life or life view from them, and Fulfillment (FU), which measures the degree to which an individual sees himself/herself as having fulfilled, or being in the process of fulfilling his/her framework or life goals. The sum of these two scales comprises the Life Regard (LR) scale.

Scoring: Respondents rate the statements based upon their current feelings on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (agree) to 5 (disagree).

Administration and Burden: Interviewer-administered; Self-administered. Approximately 5 minutes.

Psychometrics for SCI: Not available; In the general population, the reported alpha coefficient is 0.94.

Languages:  English, Dutch.

QoL Construct: The questionnaire measures positive life regard, which corresponds to Boxes C(achievements) and E (life satisfaction/subjective well-being) of Dijker’s Model.
