Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI)

Description: A measure of sexual function in males [1].

Format: 11 items that cover 5 aspects of sexual functioning: sexual drive, erection, ejaculation, perception of problems with sexual function in each of these areas, and overall satisfaction.

Scoring: Each item is rated on a 5-point scale with individualized anchor point descriptors.

Administration and Burden: Interviewer-administered. Approximately 5 minutes.

Psychometrics for SCI: Not available.

Languages: English, Spanish.

QoL Construct: The BSFI is a Health-Related Quality of Life (QoL) measure of sexual functioning, which corresponds to Boxes C (achievements; health-related QoL) and E (subjective evaluations and reactions) of Dijker’s Model.
