Subjective Quality of Life Profile (SQLP)

Description: A domain-specific measure of subjective well-being [1].

Format: It is divided into two parts: 1) A core questionnaire consisting of 27 items exploring 4 life domains: functional life, social life, material life, and spiritual life and 2) an ‘optional questionnaire’, which consists of a variable number of items chosen by the investigator from a ‘bank’ of 54 items, depending on the particular points s/he wishes to focus on (e.g., family, children, etc.).

Scoring: For each item on the core section of the SQLP the participant indicates degree of satisfaction using a score ranging from -2 (very dissatisfied) to +2 (very satisfied), with a score of zero reflecting ‘indifference’. On the optional section of the SQLP participants indicate performance or change, importance attributed, degree of anticipated change, and coping. Importance attached is scored on 3 levels from 0 (without importance) to 2 (great importance). A total score, consisting of the mean of all sub-scores may also be obtained.

Administration and Burden: Self-administered.

Psychometrics for SCI: Not available.

Languages: French, English.

QoL Concept: The SQLP is a measure of Subjective Well-Being, which corresponds to Boxes D (individual expectations and priorities) and E (subjective evaluations and reactions; social adjustment) of Dijker’s Model.
